How to Deep Clean Your Kitchen?

Everyone loves a clean and sweet-smelling kitchen to work in. With the warm weather just around the corner, it’s vital that your kitchen is looking and smelling its best. What’s the solution? Spring cleaning. Whether you’re an enthusiastic cleaner or not, we have some easy and useful tips for you to follow in order for you to achieve that sparkling kitchen you dream of.

1. De-clutter
Before you do anything, the first most vital step is to de-clutter and clear out anything you no longer need or want. This way, you will save space and there’ll be less to clean. Another way to save space, without having to throw anything out is to add baskets and shelving where you can store your jars and other kitchen items.

2. Clean all appliances
As most of your major appliances are most likely used on a daily basis, chances are they’re getting dirty. Therefore, it is a good idea to get cleaning them as soon as possible. To clean major appliances like your oven and washing machine, you don’t need the most expensive cleaning products on the market nor a professional maid. All you have to do is make a paste out of baking soda and water, cover the whole surface of the appliance and leave it to work its magic overnight. This will loosen the stains and you’ll be able to scrub it much easier.

As for your microwave, all you need to do is create a concoction of two parts water with one part bleach and spray it inside of your microwave. Let it stand for an hour or more, depending on how bad the stains are, and then you can scrub the stains right off. It really is a miracle.

To clean your refrigerator and to get it smelling odour-free, wipe it with a wet cloth and then with vinegar to prevent mould. Then place a few drops of vanilla extract on some cotton and leave it inside the refrigerator to get rid of odours.

If your pans aren’t looking too good either, sprinkle baking soda into the pan with a small amount of water until it is moist. Leave it to stand for a couple of hours and rinse. That will eliminate burns and singes.

3. Clean your Kitchen sink
If you use your kitchen frequently, chances are, your kitchen sink isn’t looking its best. Firstly, you should organise everything. Place sponges and soap on a soap dish and make sure they stay in one place. Baking soda will clean stainless steel sinks and as for porcelain sinks, you can clean them up by putting bleach saturated paper cloths around the bottom of the sink. Leave it overnight and rinse off the following day before using it.

4. And finally …
Once everything is cleaned and stain-free, it is time to organise it all. You want to make sure that everything has its own place. This will save you time and space. First off, let’s find a place for your pots and pans. They take up a lot of space and it would save you a great amount of space if you installed hanging racks above your kitchen stove on which you can place your large pots and pans. As for your utensils, it would be a great idea if you could store them in a drawer to save counter space. As long as you make sure every item in the kitchen has its own place, you’ll save time and space.
